Engraving FAQ

How long does engraving take?
Our standard turn around for engraving is typically 1-5 days.


Can you engrave graphics, logos and custom artwork? What about handwriting or prints?
We can engrave graphics, logos, and custom artwork on to anything you put your mind to! We also can engrave handwriting, footprints, hand prints and paw prints onto many materials as well.

Do I get to see a layout before the item is personalized?
We do send layouts to the emails provided with the order to show how the text, font and any graphics will look like.


What materials can you engrave?
We can engrave wood, glass, slate, leather, acrylic, plastic, brass, steel, aluminum, nickel, and copper. We're always up to experimenting with new materials.


What are you able to cut with the laser machines?
We are able to cut up to 3/4 inch wood and plastics with our laser machines. We can also cut fabrics, leather, and paper.


What kind of engraving machines do you use?
We have a laser machine for wood, plastic, and coated materials. We use a mechanical engraver to engrave metal, award plates and brass plaques. We also have a sand carving machine that engraves glass, wine bottles, and whiskey bottles.


Are there any artwork or setup fees?
We do not usually have set up fees. For simple text or provided artwork, no set up fee is required. If there is artwork that will need to be created or edited, it will require a set up charge. If an art charge is applicable, it is typically minimal and is to cover the cost and time of editing or recreating a graphic (For example, an image of the graphic desired or a low-resolution graphic or artwork). For graphic based engraving, the file types we use are vector files in the file formats of .ai, .eps, . svg, .cdr, .pdf, .psd. If you have a high-resolution image of the artwork, it usually gets converted to a vector easily. All of our machines work in black and white as well as gray-scale for engraving purposes.


Do you offer discounts for multiple items?
Yes, for larger projects, we can offer a discount depending on the complexity, size, and process.


Can you engrave with different fonts that you don't have shown?
Yes, we can engrave in different fonts. If you have a specific font in mind, we can engrave with that font or if we don't have it in our system, we will match it with a similar font.


How do I add special characters like hearts and other symbols into my engraving details?
To put special characters in with engraving, please put the desired symbol in parenthesis and we will include it in the engraving layout. ex. (Heart) We will send you a layout of the engraving before the item is personalized.


Are there any minimum order requirements?
No, there are not any minimum order requirements.


Can you engrave a photo?
We can engrave high resolution photos onto certain materials like wood and Alumamark.
 

What is the traditional etiquette for a monogram?
With a traditional monogram, the center letter (The last name) is in the center and is the largest. On either side of the center letter sits two initials. The first name goes on the left and then on the right sits the middle initial, maiden last name, or if it is for a couple, the man's initial. An example is shown below.

When writing it in a personalization box for an order, you can do the two smaller initials in lower case and the larger initial in upper case for representation purposes so there is no confusion. In the actual engraving layout, everything would be in upper case.

Returns 
Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food, flowers, newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases.

Some health and personal care items

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.

Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.

There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable)
Book with obvious signs of use
CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, video game, cassette tape, or vinyl record that has been opened
Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error
Any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery

Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at jt.shrader@gmail.com and send your item to: Engraved Traditions, LLC., 175 East Alex Bell Road, Ste. 208, Centerville OH 45459, United States.

Gifts 
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.

If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.

Shipping

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
